Trade Pasifika 2012 Receives Funding Support from ANZ
[Suva – June 19, 2012] Trade Pasifika 2012 which will bring together more than 50 goods and service providers from across the Pacific under one roof next week, received a funding boost from the Australia New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) today.
 
ANZ provided FJD $30,000.00 sponsorship and has become the major sponsor of the three day event which will take place at the Sheraton in Denarau from June 25.
 
At the signing of the sponsorship memorandum today, Rakesh Ram, the ANZ Acting CEO Pacific Central Region and CEO Fiji said, “We look forward to the 3-day event later this month and we welcome the Pacific’s Private Sector as they come together to showcase their goods and services to enhance trade within the region and beyond. The Trade Pasifika Expo is an excellent platform to maximise trade opportunities.”
 
Chairperson of the Trade Pasifika 2012 organizing committee, Kaliopate Tavola welcomed the sponsorship from ANZ.
 
“ANZ’s support for Trade Pasifika 2012 is a welcome boost for the event. Through this support Trade Pasifika 2012 is guaranteed of success. ANZ presence in the Region is extensive and this intervention by the Bank consolidates its role as the leading banker in the Pacific Region.”
 
Goods and service providers from Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu will exhibit a wide range of products, including honey, pearls, coconut furniture, coffee, cocoa, coconut products, taro and banana chips and manufactured goods. 
 
Trade Pasifika 2012 has also received sponsorship support from a range of private sector organisations including Williams and Goslings, Air Pacific, Air Terminal Service, Fiji TV and the Ministry of Industries and Trade. The event has been organized by the Pacific Island Private Sector organization (PIPSO) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pacific Centre, Secretariat of the Pacific community (SPC), AusAID’s Pacific Leadership Programme, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
